So who is the man behind Swell? In a word: the least "accountant-y" accountant you'll ever meet. 

The man behind Swell, Edward (or "Woody"), is a fully qualified chartered accountant who flew the PAYE coop to start his own freelance consultancy business. With well over a decade of experience under his belt, he's a qualified something or other with all sorts of fancy letters after his name, and is a Deloitte alumni to boot.

An outdoors-y type who inexplicably found himself stuck behind a desk for several years, Woody fled the dirty brilliance of London in 2018 for the blustery shores of Devon with his wife Kathryn and sausage dog Keith, his SUP strapped to the roof-rack. The idea was to keep doing what he was good at (finance) but avoid ever having to ride the Northern Line again. If he's not on the water or on the snow, he's knocking your company's books together and showing you how to make the very most of your business. 

The idea behind Swell was to do good work for good people and take the fear out of finance. Swell helps to grow small businesses and maintain big ones, and get everyone out of the door in time for tea. 

Our philosophy is that the company accounts don't need to be a chore if they're done right.

Why "Swell"? Apart from the warming association of nice, swollen bank accounts, it's also a surfing term. And, frankly, everything should come back to the beach.
